Grant Proposal Guidelines The Foundation funds charitable projects that will make a positive impact on Huntington County and its people. The Foundation is particularly interested in ideas that shed new light on local needs and provide innovative, long term solutions. Categories include: Arts & Culture, Health, Civic Affairs, Recreation, Community Development, Welfare and Education. Grants will not be awarded for operating funds, political projects or for political campaigns. Requests for funding are reviewed by the Foundation’s Grants Committee. Their recommendations are forwarded to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, with whom grant-making authority resides. |

Grant Proposal Deadlines Grant reviews are scheduled twice a year, in May and November. The deadline for submitting applications will be April 21 and October 20, 2008. Past Grants To date, the Huntington County Community Foundation has made contributions totaling more than $553,735.00 to support the innovative ways nonprofit agencies are addressing the growing and changing needs in Huntington County. Below are a few examples of worthy projects that have received funding from the Foundation: American Red Cross, Huntington County Chapter - $1,625.00 to purchase four defibrillators and a overhead projector. Andrews Elementary School - $19,072.60 to fund one half of 2nd - 5th grade playground. Andrews Lion Club - $8,000.00 to help with costs for baseball fields. Big Brothers Big Sisters - $2,200.00 for newspaper insert and funding two recruitment events. Bippus Park - $3,500.00 for a pavilion in their new park. Boys & Girls Club of Huntington County - $7,720.00 towards funding Power Hour. Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club - $12,260.00 for upgrade and improving grounds, facilities and electrical system. Children’s Choir of Huntington County - $2,000.00 to help with expenses for Niagara Falls Children’s Music Festival. Council Against Domestic Violence of Huntington County - $2,000.00 to provide education about domestic violence. Habitat for Humanity - $9,000.00 to finish 14th house and build foundation for 15th house. Historic Forks of the Wabash - $7,000.00 to complete access road. Horace Mann Elementary School - $5,000.00 for renovation of Kindergarten/Special Needs playground. Huntington College Foundation -$18,000.00 for scholarships for Huntington County residents. Huntington County Emergency Management - $3,000.00 for lights and shelving for new vehicle. Huntington County Sheriff's Department - $2,304.00 to purchase six turnout gear suits. Huntington Parks & Recreation - $6,000.00 for basketball court at General Slack Park. LOVE, Inc. - $14,915.00 for renovation, and sprinkler heads, etc. at new location. Markle Public Library - $12,500.00 for repair and renovation of new library building. Pathfinder Services, Inc. - $15,000.00 to develop plan for accessible playground. Pulse Opera House - $4,000.00 to help fund heating and air conditioning in new lobby. Roanoke Public Library - $1,690.00 for purchase of two workstations and chairs. Salvation Army - $3,372.00 to purchase equipment for child care program. Youth Services Bureau - $1,600.00 to purchase screens and rework windows in facility. |
